Lalibela in Frankfurt

Super nice service, very attentive and you feel in good hands! Food and drinks are great, original and not "0815". Clear recommendation!

The armchairs are extremely comfortable and I find the distance between the tables particularly adequate. There you don't get the feeling of eating sardines in a can in the evening. The waitresses are always extremely friendly and extremely obliging. We really enjoy that every time we visit. The restaurant is always fine and we had a wonderful evening there. Try this great kitchen, the menu has something for everyone in the guideline.

Friendly service and fair price.

It was our first time here and we received a very warm welcome. The food was really delicious! The smaller card didn't bother us at all. We would love to come back!

I heard about the restaurant through the Städteherz voucher book. We received a very friendly welcome and were able to sit outside. The ambience is unfortunately not very nice and you are sitting right on a very busy street. We ordered a vegetarian dish and a beef dish for dinner. Both dishes were delicious! The service was also very friendly! All in all, we give 4 stars and are happy to recommend the restaurant to others.

The outside of the restaurant is not so nice, but the interior is painted and decorated in earthy tones. Very cozy. The waiter was super friendly and the African beer was delicious. The food is simple but tastes good. Price / performance is great. Gladly again.

Amazing place! :) The food was delicious, mixture of meat and vegetables, it is an incredible adventure for your mouth :)) Also i had the mango beer (Dju Dju) which was super good and sweet. The lady who welcomed us (i guess she was the manager) was very nice and kind, she was smiling the whole time and she recommended us the best food they had. I would definitely go there again, awesome restaurant! :)

Food and ambience is great! The staff is friendly as always and the orders are processed relatively quickly, because it is also centrally located, you can go for a quick meal after shopping. Treat yourself!

We came here to eat lunch / afternoon. I have never felt so uncomfortable as here. Everything was dark, the fridge was humming very loud, there was a dead silence in there (apart from the humming fridge). We were the only guests. I would have loved to go again, but we had already ordered. The clatter in the kitchen was also heard. I asked if you could turn on music, but the waitress overwhelmed this question. I would have loved to play music on my cell phone myself, but my partner found it inappropriate. I couldn't get a bite because of this cold atmosphere. We left this place in a bad mood and arguing. I have never seen anything lifeless like this in Germany.

Very nice service, portions quite small but delicious

I have been eating at Mesfin and Tsehay for almost 30 years and it is incomparably good every time. I am addicted to this Ethiopian food !!!!

Tried something new with the help of the B-My: I am thrilled. Cute decor, dimmed light and a very courteous waiter rounded off the delicious food. I recommend number 9 - a mix of three vegetarian dishes.

It says open on the Internet we Walk all the way and then one Man out of the kitchen says it is not open boom ?time wasted Information is not accurate.

We really liked it. It was not busy, but the service was very friendly and the food was cooked quickly. There are no cutlery and you eat authentically with your fingers. We will be happy to go there again! :-)

Friendly waitress who spoke excellent English. 3 Delicious vegan options, or you can have a collection of all three. Very nice decorations with a relaxed atmosphere.

I just wonder that , it's ethiopian restourant and they speak only english and dutch. I don't advice for those who speak amharic only.poor quality food whith unfair price.

The location and the stuff are lovely, but the food didn't really blow us away, since we expected it to have a bit more spice and complexity. The beef was also a bit too chewy. Maybe Ethiopian food just isn't for our tastes. Since we never had it before, we couldn't judge if it was authentic. If you're interested in Ethiopian cuisine it might still be worth a visit.

From the outside rather inconspicuous, from the inside very nice. The food is very tasty, everything was explained to us beforehand. The price is okay, reasonable. We were there at lunchtime and didn't have to make reservations beforehand. "In the corner of Frankfurt" there is little walk-in customers.

Cozy enough. We were three for dinner and no one else ever came in. We had lamb and vegan dinners. We could visit and enjoyed the food. Try it you might like it.

Good solid Ethiopian food in a pleasant atmosphere

Horrible horrible owner. Went to Germany for tourism and wanted to try some Ethiopian food. Called to reserve, staff spoke in Germany so I asked if he spoke in one of Ethiopian native language, he said yes and i proceeded to try to make a reservation. He said they are not open which cought me by surprise because google map said they were open. He proceeded to say restaurants at the train station has some restaurants open at that time, i had not asked for his suggestions and his tone sounded rude. So i said the train station? He said yes. I hanged up and told my partner how he sounded rude and that he had suggested me to go to the train station for a restaurant choice and how i found that to be very weird. We waited few more hrs and walked in to the restaurant since our hotel was close by and also i was curious to see if my gut feeling was right that he was been nasty basically. So again inspite of the open sign and a man standing by the bar area he told us he was not open for service. On our way back to the USA we met a local Ethiopian who explained to.us that the owner refuses to serve Ethiopians and is known to be outright rude and disrespectful to Ethiopians. Why have Ethiopian restaurant and treat your own people that way is beyond me. And if you happen to go there it would be a great question to ask.

I was already in Frankfurt for a couple of years (about 8 years ago) when I tried this restaurant first time. Given the modest exterior of the restaurant (and my lack of experinence with Ethiopian food in those days) I did not imagine what I will discover here. Since than I have been visitng this restaurant for about 8 years and I can say that this is the best African restaurant (and one of the best restaurants) I have ever tried (although I have tried many). The quality of the food, the kindness of the owners (an Ethiopian couple) and the atmosphere of the place is exceptional. There are both vegetarian dishes and dishes with meat and the owner of the restaurant can prepare it as spicy or mild as you wish. One of my favourites is "Mesir Wott", a dish with lentils, ethiopian bread (injera), some vegetables and a souce with a wonderful, red coloured spice combination, which must be a secret of the owner's family. I have been looking for this taste in Ethiopian restaurants in other countries as well (US, UK, Hungary) but it was never nearly as tasty as it is in this restaurant. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly. The restaurant has nice decoration with warm colours and authentic Ethiopian paintings and art objects. There are usually some gentle African tunes in the background (not too loud) that I also like. I think that the lovely couple who owns the restaurant really created the atmosphere of a proper family restaurant. I find it rare. The prices are moderate, especially considering that there is no compromise in the quality of the ingredients. Some of the spices and a special, dark, healthy type of grain is imported directly from Africa. This is a big difference compared to most other African restaurants in Frankfurt that simply use wheat...

A clean and very nicely laid out Ethiopian food spot. The Street noise from traffic could be a issue if the door is left open. Food was good and attentive server.
